air conditioning problem
air conditioning problem
Hope I'm not posting this in the wrong forum. I seem to have lost the charge in my system. It will output warm but not hot air. I have tried to add R-134 but it doesn't want to take in any more and yet still no cool. The gauge shows in the correct zone. I have noticed that when the compressor clutch engages it will only work for about 2 seconds. Is this normal? It probably shows that I am dumber than a rock when it comes to air conditioning. So any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks CW

It may be so low that the low pressure switch cuts off the compressor. Keep trying it with the can upright and spraying water on the condensor and the R-134 can. Let it stabalize and add a new can when the first one is empty then let it stabalize. I had the same problem with my 1500 Ram this spring. Took a can and a half to get to the correct pressure. Works fine now, even in AZ where it has been in the triple digits with high humididy.
