Adjustment After Taller Tires
Adjustment After Taller Tires
I'm looking to buy a taller set of tires, something like a 255/85 16. When you change from the stock tire size, does this affect the transmission shift points? How would you go about correcting the speedometer after the change. Is it a gear that has to be changed, or does it have to be reprogrammed by computer? Thanks for the help
Re:Adjustment After Taller Tires
You might look into the Superlift TruSpeed device. I believe it will work for your model. I have one on a 98 and the speedo is dead-on now. Give them look at

Re:Adjustment After Taller Tires
your right you would need a new gear drive in the trans. I two have a 3500 that i run 255-85-16's on and that is how i'd need to correct it. I know RICKSON TRUCK ACC. has gears, you might call him. I have not corrected the problem, I know through ratio formula I am 10% over, so I just adjust my speed (60 mph=66mph). have not noticed any negative problems with shifting ect. Love the look and added height. Oh, i also hade to run a 1 1/4 " alm spacer, tires will rub it you don't. It too has been trouble free.
