97 crazy power

So i know this kid that just got a 97 12v manual with 285000 on it and just recently put a #10 fuel plate on it and it increased more than i have ever seen for just a 10 plate. My buddy has a 97 with an auto. he has pressure lock bd trans, j hook. # 10 plate cut down to a #5 40hp injectors and anaroid tune and this kids trucks walks on him. even from a stop my my buddy with the auto will pull till like 45 then the manual was walking by him.

Lots of factors come to play in tuning. Likely the 97 is in a better state of tune and the #10 may be set full forward. Gauges, he needs them.

An auto in good operating condition will use twenty some horepower just to operate itself. His auto could have a torque converter problem too.

yeah that kid that has the Manual 12v is not really the smartest tool in the shied. I think he is running like 38 psi. i also know that the auto takes some power but still to me it does not make sense. No torque converter problems i think he just got a bd put in. its a strong runner. i dont know much about 12 v im a 24 v guy but shouldn't the #10 plate shaved town to the 5# pump up the power a little more.

Probably AFC work.

Going by the plate ratings on PDW's website, in stock position, a 10 plate in a 215 pump is good for 330hp. A 10 plate in a 180 pump is 220. A #5 is 270hp. Not to mention that the auto absorbs more power than the stick, it makes sense that the 215 truck runs harder.

I'm not exactly sure what aneroid tune is but what i got from it is that its some sort of tune for the fuel going to the motor when it is not under boost.

The difference in the 2 trucks is very simple. The injection pumps in the 2 trucks are completly different inside. The stick has the 215 pump. The auto has the 180 pump. The 10 plate in the stick with the 215 pump makes about 375hp or better. The auto with the 180 pump with no other mods makes about 240hp. Even with all the other mods the auto is probably in the low to mid 300hp range. The stick will hold up just fine with the 10 plate, that is the truck the 10 plate was made for. He will need to put in a stronger clutch and pressure plate soon or he will destroy the one that is in there. If you go to the TST site you can see what the 10 plate was made for. The 10 plate is not really made for the automatic but it has been found to work well with it for towing. That is why I have it in mine.
