47RE Hangs in 2nd sometimes?

I've got a 47RE trans that sometimes hangs in 2nd and won't shift to third or it'll go to neutral for a second then make the shift to 3rd. The transmission still shifts firm and isn't slipping but it'll hang in 2nd from time to time. Any idea's? Something sticking in the valvebody?

Sometimes it'll shift up through the gears right up to OD with no problems. Other times it'll hang in 2nd or try to make the 2nd to 3rd shift but it'll hang in neutral for a second then make the shift into 3rd but it'll shift into OD just fine.

Good possibility it is the piston seal in the front clutch. Mine would do the same until it got warm. During rebuild found mine had a small twist in the seal.Previous owner said it was a Jasper rebuild.Until the tranny gets warm enough fluid bypassed the seal to hang up the shift.putting a 150 psi guage on the line pressure test port showed the pressure slowly build until it jumped at the shift point.

My transmission does this hot or cold. Also, the transmission is still original, it's never been rebuilt. When it makes a successful shift it shifts into gear pretty hard. It's got a Trans Go shift kit that's been in it for about 4 years now. I'm thinking a sticky valve in the valvebody or sticky accumulator piston. I'll have to drop the pan sometime soon and check it out. I only put about 3k a year on it so it doesn't get much use.

It could be your governor plugs leting pressure leak off wich will not let your trans shift right.

sounds like my dads he only put 3 to 4k on a year also. If he backs up first that truck will shift fine. we were told the valve body had sum sticky plungers in it so we put a towing valve body it it still have same thing Redline diesel told us it was the governors were sticking.
