46 or 47RE?

A friend that owns a trans shop gave me a core (47RE)transmission(no converter) to rebuild, but I'm thinking he gave me a 46RE. It just looks a tad small. Is there a way to tell externally? I guess I could've made some measurements to compare it to.

The other deal is he was willing to give me a working 48RE. Isn't that whole computer & wiring harness different? Or will it be just as well with the Suncoast setup I was going to get for my 47?

The bell housings are different, The 47 only went behind the V-10 and diesel(I believe) the 46 went behind the 318/360. The v-8 had a standard Chrysler bell housing, the V-10/Diesel have the industrial type bell housing. The bell housing on the V-10/diesel has the inspection plate on the bottom, the 318/360 did not.

Thanks, I knew the application differences just not the physical ones. It does have the plate & dimensions do match up.
