I wish I could answer that, I was just trying to help someone on another forum, I tried to copy and paste it here, it would not fully post so I gave up. I could not find a way to delete the whole thread, so I just erased what I could.

Thx for replying. I had that happen to me once on a trip. At first it wouldn't go over 65, then 60, then 55, then 50. At that point I figured it was the fuel filter. I pulled off at the next rest stop and changed the fuel filter. Made a huge difference.

I didn't get all this information posted then tried to delete the post: Intermittent no tack on dash, when tack works the truck will go full speed and the tranny will not lock up when tack didn't work. The crank sensor was replaced & no change, they have the PCM out for repair.

Thanks for the filter advice!

The wiring harness for the engine speed sensor (ESS) can rub through at the front of the engine and short out - this could cause the intermittent symptoms you described.
