12v ('94) tach wire/ecu location
12v ('94) tach wire/ecu location
So I have my remote start installed but cant seem to find the tach wire. The wire location guide says its the grey/black wire at the ecu. I found an ecu at the bottom center of the dash, it has a grey/black wire, but there doesnt seem to be any signal there. Do I have the wrong ecu? Could someone point me in the right direction? I have the starter set to crank for x amount of time, and that works but I'd much rather have it set up so the remote start senses how long to crank.
Thanks,
Travis

Tach is measured in AC current. You cannot use a test light you have to use a multimeter, or you could skip that step and set it up for voltage sensing.
here is some more info--->DODGE, RAM PICKUP, 1994, Tachometer
Also located as gray/blue at large plug through firewall on drivers side at highest point of firewall, also gray/blue at cluster. or DODGE, RAM PICKUP, 2001, Tachometer Diesel tach wire is gray/black. The wire is located on the center of the firewall. There are two black plugs, the wire is in the top plug without the white insert. The tach wire can also be found at the ECM on the passenger side firewall in connector C-1, pin 8. Be careful where you get your info. Grey/black is the wire on mine, probably on yours too, might also find it at the cps.

Thanks guys, I did a search at the12volt (pretty well known source) and found the info on the grey blue wire too. I forgot to post when I found it. I'll give it a shot when it warms up a little (bout 10deg. right now). I was using a DMM to look and it wasnt showing very much voltage on the grey/bl wire, nowhere near enough for a remote start to use.
