09 USERS I Need help

I'm drilling my exhaust for the EGT probe and it seems that I maybe hitting a rib inside, I have drilled .348 and have not broken through. How thick is the wall on the manifold ? I took the inter fender well out and that give good access. I will post a picture very shortly of where I started the hole.
Any body that has drilled an 09 or one with the same manifold please chime in. Thanks

The 6.7 manifold I had on the shelf for a while didn't have a divider. The 6.7 manifolds are thicker thou.

I'm just short of 3/8" deep with the drill now. Maybe I should just drill the collector instead, really wanted it where it needs to be. Any other inputs ?

You should be good there.. IIRC that's right where the hole was in the manifold I bought.. It even looks the same as this pic.

http://www.dieselmanor.com/diy/CMS67.../D67image1.htm

I just did some searching and read that some folks claim their manifold is up to 1/2" thick in that area.

There is no center rib in the 6.7 manifold. It is just very thick, keep drilling....
It may make some chattering as you start to break through.

very deep

I'm now at .560" thats 9/16ths deep so something is very wrong. The pic that dieselmanor has is good but I'm not sure on the height in that picture of the hole location. it sure looks the same but I'm way to deep. Any thoughts

The picture came from another forum, I think the guy's screen name was MoparMuscle, or something like that.

Just keep drilling. Don't worry, when I did mine I thought the same thing. I have done two now - a 2008 and 2009 (mine), and they were both really thick. Probably 5/8" or so, I never did measure it.

Thanks Scott

Scott: Thanks for your input and the picture. It gave me the confidence I needed to proceed drilling. Its done ! Used 60 different size drill bits to step up to the ltr "R" . Those pictures should be a sticky for the 6.7 side of the house. Thanks again for your time everybody!

Just did a 900 mile run and the avg. temp seems to be 700-800 degrees except when getting on it then it will hit 1000. Is that about what everybody else is getting .
Also got 21 mpg hand calculated running 75-80 mph with Smarty jr set at stock with POD set down to 80%. Thats up from 16 mpg doing the same trip same speed. I'm so glad I did deletes !!!
