Just a heads up - Check and see if the isolators are still on each of your steel fuel line leaving the common rail. Taking nephew to airport the other day, and all of a sudden, engine died and CEL came on. Checked it out on side of road, and #4 cylinder fuel line from the common rail was cracked perfectly in two. The isolator had came off and guess ?vibration caused it to crack under the high pressure. $125 later I got it towed to the house. Ordered the part Sun afternoon from Cummins (they did not have it in Charlotte, had to come from Roanoke I think. Got it Tues a little after lunch. The color was different than the one that came on it, made me wonder if it was stainless. Anyway, put it on, (came with new isolator) and cranked her right up. Part was around 22 bucks from Cummins. Probably add hundred dollars to it if got it from Chrysler Dealership. Homewrecker told me he knew of another 06 that same thing happened and and on same cylinder too.

I've replaced #4 3 times so far, and there $91.00 from dealership. Last time bought from cummins @$25.00 so I went ahead and bought two for that cheap. Was told the problems was two things the isolator and the soft pewter used to make the line.

Add me to the list of cracked #4 fuel lines. Mine was covered under warranty. It took a coupe days for the dealer to get the part, so I found one at the local Cummins dealer, called the Dodge dealer from the Cummins dealer and asked them if I needed to bring my own part or were they gonna get on the ball.

Add me too. I got mine from local dodge dealer for $42. The only good thing about it was I was only 6 miles from the dealer and they had it in stock

Would putting threadlocker keep the bolts from backing off? Is this the problem?

had my #4 replaced at about 96k, it falls under the cummins 100k engine warranty

Sorry for the hijack, what exactly is covered on the 100k warranty my 07 has 437XX and my exhaust manifold neede replaced and dealer told me my warranty didn't cover it, only covered the engine internally.

Can someone describe to me what an isolator is so I know what to go look for? Is it just something on the fuel injector line? I'm taking a road trip next week and I'd like not to get stranded. Thanks.

It is a plastic Holding device that holds your fuel lines together( much like spark plug wire looms) and keeps them from vibrating too much. They are secure with bolts in the intake area to the engine.
