Fuel Pressure woes
#16
I had a set of GlowShift gauges, and I realize you DON"T have those and Issipro is a much better company, but my experience was always the sending unit in the 3 times mine failed. Eventually I sent back every GS gauge back to the company, got a full refund, and then bought a mechanical set of Issipro gauges, and have not had a single issue in several years. Glad they are working for you, but if you are anything like me that can kind of be a curse in a way, because now that it's working it makes it much harder to diagnose why it was failing before.

I feel the same, rightwinger. Loose wire, maybe, hence the pointing straight down. If that was the case, I'm not worried.

Soooo, something I have noticed since moving my fp sender and checking out the wiring is my fp is around 18 psi on a full tank and drops to around 15 at about half and down. I never let it go below 1/4 on the gauge which is around 9-10 gallons according to topping it off at that point.
Any thoughts?

Stock pick up unit, Fass 95GPH under bedrail, 3/8" fuel line to filter canister, Vulcan big line kit 1/2" out 6" to "tee" for snubber and sending unit to Isspro 0-30 FP gauge, out of "tee" 8-9" to vulcan elbow at vp 44.
I have noticed this fluctuation in psi since I added the tee and moved the sender and snubber...

Reading back through the thread I'm betting this is simply a gauge/sender issue. I'd contact ISSPRO and ask them how to diagnosis both of them. Usually they have user friendly troubleshooting for each gauge model on their website.
Especially since there should be no difference in pressure dependent on the amount if fuel in the tank with the fuel pump mounted on the frame. Yes, with fuel pumps mounted high on the engine there's some sucking involved to get fuel out of the tank but with the pump on the frame there's more siphoning to the fuel pump than not.
And really the snubber and sender coming off the tapped 90* fitting on the bottom of the fuel filter housing should be perfect. No need for the "T" fitting and another 6 inches in either direction will do absolutely nothing, so my feeling is you moving it and getting different readings is coincidental and is still a sender issue.

Something else I may not have noted earlier, but during the whole failing gauge issue in December, the red warning light never came on, except on start up when the gauges wind up at the self check.

What a gf! So, after absolutely zero responses from Isspro and going thru everything, I find the connector at the sending unit is buggered inside the delphi-like connector supplied by isspro-half arsed crimp barely making contact....does anyone actually do quality control anymore??!!
Kinda burned about no customer support, they suggested I installed them wrong and insisted it was a grounding issue, initially, then fell off the map.
Hopefully anybody else can look this up for another place to look when their gauges act up....

I'm not defending ISSPRO but just stating that I've never had bad service from them. Matter of fact, they would call me if I ever didn't get an answer. I'd certainly give them another shot. I used to have the name and number of the guy you'd want to talk to there too.....but ironically enough, I just deleted it off my phone.

Michael Pliska?
After 3 or 4 attempts from the previous issues to contact him I got no response and then contacted headquarters in Portland and no replies???
Over it now, just frustrated that it was an assumed install problem and they said as much, just think they should have replied. I like the gauges.
