2014 shows check engine light

Yesterday my check engine light came on. Not blinking but not going away either. Took battery cables off and afterwards the CEL is still on. Spoke to dealer who says the cycling of the key method to get a code does not work on the newer trucks. To be precise he said he didn't THINK it would. I having trouble understanding why Ram would do this. Does anybody out there know otherwise????

Some trucks don't have a key to cycle but I agree it should be made to work on the ones that do have a key. I carry a cheap $40 code reader with me and don't leave home without it. Have you actually tried the key method on your truck?

Auto zone tell me it is a code U3017. I am 3000 miles fom my dealer and have emailed them for advice. Some people say there is no fix for this code, others say there is a brand new one. Anxious to know what dealer says.

Dealer agrees with the possible causes mentioned in the post above by BigIron70, but has no solution other than to get it erased to see if it comes back. As the young people say these days W**??

Got it erased and did not come back.....so as i understand it it was never a problem except the computer never knew if there was a prob or not because the communication with one of the sensors was bad

Buy a cheap code reader and keep it in the truck if only for resets on the road.
