twins?
judging by the mods in my sig, do you guys think my current turbo would be a good one for the first in line in a compound set up? then maybe throw an HT3B under it, and get some different injectors? what do you think?

It's a modified H1C. Bought some gillet diesel parts and made my turbo better. Can hit over 45#s boost at WOT with the way in set up now. It's a 14cm turbine housing for quicker spool and a 60mm compressor wheel and housing.

Wastegate? I assume non-wastegated.
I was going to run a 351/ht3b on my 91, would have been a great towing/quick spool setup for relatively cheap.
Many run the 351/475 or 351/ht3b and they work really well.
351 is a 60/58/9, somewhat choked on the turbine but does surprisingly well on all trucks including the 3rd gen crowd.
I would think you would want a wastegate, you can get an external wastegate exhaust manifold. External is the preffered way.

I wouldn't mind reading up on some other first gen twin turbo builds, if anybody knows of one feel free to post up the link to it.

A wastegated housing doesn't require a different downpipe.
The 60mm upgrade is the HE351/Super 40 wheel. That is a known good compressor to hit 400hp on a 12v VE.

I guess I thought it would push it back towards the firewall too much...
it will hit 400 by itself? or when paired with another turbo?

That could be better though especially if you dropped to a 12cm hot side. The smaller wheel has less mass to get turning and is easier to turn so it could spool faster than a 60/86 wheel.

I was simply asking opinions on whether or be my current turbo would be good in a compound set up. Sounds like probably not.
P.S. I have bumped the timing already it's just not in the sig.

IMO and what i've witnessed many times is that the stock hx-35 is a great turbo to pair with the ht3b. i only suggest this as a stock hx35 would get you a good cheap turbo with a wastegated housing to put in a compound setup. I would shelf that good 60/71 turbo as a backup to have in a "just in case" scenario.
i think what has been mentioned is that your current 60/71 turbo is a better turbo as a single and would support in the 400 hp range on it's own but not the best suited for compounds. I have also read numerous accounts of big wheel h1c's not handling big hp/boost/drive pressure numbers, such as those in a compound setup.
