dam... my truck's rear end = toast
Dang thing spun a carrier bearing. :'( The whole axle assembly is toast cuz the bearing ate a bunch of the housing away. :'( :'( :'(

The thing I'm wondering is weather or not the Dana 80 is better than the 70 that I have (had).

How much beefier is the 80? Would it be worthwhile to upgrade? They seem to be around the same price and the only thing I would have to change is the drive shaft length. That's only $75, a drop in the bucket for this kind of mess.

What to do? Does anyone know where to get a deal on a Dana 80? I need the 3.54 gears and limited slip would be nice, but not necessary. Thanks in advance.

Re:dam... my truck's rear end = toast
can you swap axle tubes from one housing to another??, If so I've got a good pumpkin/non L/S chunk w/3:55 gears, but it's out of a wreck & one of the axle tubes is bent slightly, the gears were still good & everything inside the pumpkin looked ok, but I took the L/S chunk out & put it in a friends truck, let me know if there's anything you could use I could probably get you what's left pretty reasonable, hope I can help, Dusty
Re:dam... my truck's rear end = toast
I'm in Salt Lake City Utah.

Hey Dusty- thanks for the offer, but the thought of pressing and pulling tubes out makes me kinda nervous.

Hey RCW- I'm leaning more towards the 80, but let me know what you want for the 70 cuz finances dictate that I go the cheapest route.
