headgasket uh-oh
I just followed the specs in the cummins manual. If I remember right it was everything to 30, recheck, everything to 66, recheck, the 6 long bolts holding the rockers to 89, recheck everything and then turn em all 90*.
Sounds like I should be doing it different if I am going to try to squeeze some more ponies out of the old girl.

Ive been pushing 35-40 psi at it
I'm thinkin its not boost pressure bowing them as its not leaking compression.
I'm thinkin it's coolant pressure so I'm gonna plumb in a coolant bypass

If its coolant pressure you have more to worry about then just that. Blowing freeze plugs should be your main concern. The one on the back of the block blows first. They make bolt in plugs for that one. Luckily there are 2 threaded holes on either side of that plug. PDR sells them. I've heard of guys cutting every other blade off the water pump to slow it down
But its the p-pump guys that have this problem mostly. Spinning up to 5k RPMs pushes a lot of coolant. I think your problem may be somewhere else. Have you checked the block for straightness

I've thought about clipping the pump but it is a street driven truck so I want as much cooling as possiple. So thats why I think a bypass would be my best bet
I am goin to check the block and head this weekend when it comes apart . I will also torque it a little diferently when it goes back together also
Yes low rpm's suck when you got a 21-1 or 19-1 crawl ratio

Andrew, you think your new 354 spring helped push this one out? I imagine coolant pressure would be screamin at those RPM's too.
On the plus side, I bet you're getting wicked good at doing head gaskets!
