AC fan door question
The fan door that is breaking on so many trucks has not yet broken on my '03. Is there a setting or switching procedure that causes the door to break? I think I have used the de-fog setting twice. I don't want the thing to break just to have the thing replaced even though it is covered by the exd warranty.
I never really used mine much and mine went out on me not too long ago...
didnt help you much I know but I dont think there is any set setting that causes it to break probably just using it at all does it...lol

I've read around here that you should avoid changing air direction (floor vent to top vents, top vents to defrost, etc...) while fan is at high speeds/settings.
Just what I've read - I follow this tip and so far.........so good!
Funny we have to do this on a $40K truck

I've read and heard the same. Do NOT switch from recirculation to outside air when the fan is on medium to high.
The fan speed causes the door to SLAM shut, thereby breaking the door.
Yea, it does seem cheesy that you can't do this on a $40K truck. On a side note, if the door DOES break, DC has come out with a STRONGER door that supposedly will not break

Dash removal is what it takes. Covered by extended warranty but how many other problems will be created by it. Think I'll just roll the windows down, LOL. Thank you DC. Will avoid a rant here.

If you can find a QUALIFIED DC tech, stick with him, take him out to dinner.
I knew of a tech that was AWESOME, he cared for the vehicle as if it was his own, he did an excellent job, clean & complete.
The "norm" is usually BUTCHERS
, they do more damage than good and they take NO pride in their work.
I prefer to keep my fan ON LOW when switching vents. If it does break then I have no option but if I can prevent it, I will.
Does anyone have the NEW FIX from DC? The door is supposedly EXTRA STRENGTH and will not break...

Solution...
While still under warrantee, remove the blower, reach in and bust the thing, re-assemble and off to the dealer you go. Poetic justice for all those who got shafted after their warrantee expired.

Mine busted, I pulled the fan, reached up and snatched it out, put the fan back in & now I am freezing my tail off. Best it's ever been. Every other function works, heat, defrost, floor etc.
