If everything goes to plan it will be running tommorrow. I have one loose end I cant figure out though. The positive wire to the fuse box comes direct to the battery and goes to this little plastic housing on the left side of that box. a wire (red/blue depending on how far along you go on it) labeled es-3 is the only wire to come out of that little housing. If you follow it along it goes to a connector. Keep following it back a little bit and it has a wire split of it. Fairly heavy guage, black wire with a ring connector. Its also label es-3. I need to know were that connects. I think it goes to ground but i want to be sure for fear of frying my ecm.

Wow, you got the engine back in the truck? Awesome!

I'm not following you with that wire though. Can you take a picture or do you want to have a look at my truck?

Well she's going, put on a few km today with no major issues. Got a minor rattle/squeak between 1500 and 2000 rpm. Dont know if its a plate or bracket somewere, checked the valves and they are in adjustment. Havent opened it right up yet but I am currently un impressed by the injectors and cam. But I'll have to wait until I actually get it broke in enough to get the pedal all the way to the rug. Shes still smokes black when you want her to, which i wasnt dissapointed about in the least.

hmm black wire with a ring on it? Maybe its the ground that goes to the alluminum bracket that holds the computer onto the block? Or maybe it goes to the top of the trucks frame just under the left front fender, there is a threaded hole there. Plus it is easy to put the negative battery cables on the wrong sides, one cable has more eyes on it.

I found were it went, goes to ground. If it aint grounded it just makes a relay hammer on and off and your transfer pump not work.
Now all i have to do is build bull bars, linex the bottom half of my truck, lift it 4 inches, put on an oil bypass filter, build a fuel filter setup, get a tool box/transfer tank, valve body for the tranny, transmission temp gauge, rail pressure gauge and a smarty. Good thing thats a short, cheap list

did they setup the dyno and put the safe in the back of your truck?

that dyno is a crap shoot at best. I'd run it somewhere else too before you settle on any numbers.

****, i was afraid of hearing that. First time ive been on a dyno. All i know is that i rolled in it at idle, tied in, held it at 2 grand in drive, stopped, slowly went from 0-40 miles an hour then rugged it from 40-70 and let it roll back down and stopped. Pointed at the screen and told me my numbers and that was that.

What is a decent shop in calgary with a dyno. Ive dealt with dps and big dog now and am not overly impressed by either so far.

AFI seems to be the best. They are in the real north part of Calgary. I think the neighbourhood is called Edmonton. CCV in Red Deer wasn't bad, that dyno will load up the truck pretty good. I wasn't overly impressed with the Lightspeed dyno when we were there last month.

krh, its a decent pull buddy. Congrats, buddy. Don't beat her up to badly right off the bat. Let the engine have a few km's to break in some.

In my opinion... your new engine is running awesome.
A stock 325HP Cummins will typically do 270-280 RWHP, so your 340 with just injectors & cam is right on the money.

My very mild truck with Edge Juice/attitude & Smarty on very low levels does about 400rwhp. Which tells me I need injectors!

I believe DPS has a Mustang dyno which reads lower than other dynos like the dynojet at AFI Performance in Edmonton.

DPS has a Diesel dyno day every year. I have never been to it even though it's 5 minutes from my house because we have an annual camping trip the same w/end.
I haven't heard any complaints about the DPS dyno other than it tends to read low.

The AFI Performance dyno is very popular. They have had a diesel dyno day for several years now. I have been there once & they have a great shop layout for diesels & dyno days.
It's consistent, it loads the trucks down very well, they use a direct tach hookup to the engine which makes it more accurate.
Plus it reads higher than other dyno's & who doesn't like that!!

Or you could turn up your Smarty first. I think J runs his higher, and he is still on a stock auto.
