Mobil stations also have green handles on gas pumps. I towed a friend's UD truck home after he learned that one the hard way.

I agree that something should be done so all the handles are consistent, but if the Feds have to regulate this because poeple are to stupid and to ingnorant to look at the pump then they don't need to drive a diesel! If anything the gas stations should do this to prevent it from happening to their patrons. BTW all the diesel pumps around here are yellow.

There are not many BP stations in Texas. The first time getting fuel there I had to be very careful myself, diesel for the truck and gas for the boat and yes the rubber handle cover was different. That was the first thing I noticed just prior to pumping. This was about a year ago and I thought WOW, this could really cause a problem for those who just "glance" at the pump handle and not really take notice of the fuel type.

Nobody has mentioned orange handles yet. Here at the Hess the diesel pumps are orange, at the BP the diesel handle is black and the gas handle is green.

Having my wife watch what shes putting into the tank would entail her actually putting fuel into a vehicle.

I swear I've never seen more than 1/4 tank in any car she's owned.

She'd rather stop and get 2 gallons every day than fill up once a week.

I'm glad shes hot,I think that helps get her through life.

They do already. Why do you think there is a warning label on a fan belt package to turn the engine off before installing? Someone tried it with the engine running.

The government has been protecting us from ourselves for a long time. There are a lot of people that live their lives with their heads somewhere else besides where it should be.

My ex was dumber than a box of rocks, but even she could figure out which pumps were diesel, and which weren't.

There is no excuse for this, unfortunately it's just human error. Every pump has a button to activate and the button has the name of the fuel, 87 or other octanes, OR Diesel, OR Kerosene, etc.

i put gas in my 04 once, about half a tank

just drove home & drained (pumped) half fuel out using the fuel filter drain valve, and refilled with diesel

but, since Diesel prices went thru the roof, i look at the price of Super & Diesel to see which is higher. so the price makes me look now

I try to favor the stations with the green hoses. most of the gas stations have only one or two islands with diesel and they are usually indicated with a green hose. I also like the stations where even though you have the diesel nozel, you still have to push the diesel button. My wife has only fueled my vehicle once with no problems. I her all the horror stories that I have heard when we were driving my pickup home when I first bought it... FEAR is a good reminder

My wife never takes my truck to get fuel so no worries although she's the field supervisor for a transport company so she knows the difference.

Good save on the Duramax owner!
