Fuel filter questions - Dodge Diesel

I'm a little purturbed by the fact that the fuel filter only fits '94-'96. and therefore costs $5 or $10 more than a first-gen filter. they look identical, other than the first gen filter being longer.... can anyone tell me if they will interchange? i've got 2 leftovers from the old truck and would just as soon use them if i can...

I wouldn't think it would fit if it is longer. It is pretty tight in there as it is, especially if you have to use a filter wrench to get it back off. Not 100% sure though.

Maybe someone else will chime in about this, but I think there were concerns about fuel pressure on some of them. Can't quite remember what I read before.
