Exhaust pressure sensor?...help

Ok, so there's a stainless steel line going from the side of the exhaust manifold towards the thermostat, and into a sensor. I'm wondering what it is, what does it do, etc? I noticed yesterday the line was broken in half, before then I noticed everytime the exhaust brake would engage it makes a nasty squeeling sound. So I took the broken line off, and it worked totally normal no squeeling. Then I noticed it would pick and choose whe it would engage, and a cel came on for that sensor. Truck is deleted with h&s, I'm wondering how important it is, can I keep it plugged. Does that somehow relate to what the exhaust brake is doing or is that a seperate matter. Its at the dealer right now. Thanks!

Its basicly a back pressure sensor for the exhaust manifold the ecm uses it to help control the position of the fins inside the turbo ie your exhaust brake
If its is inop the ecm uses a default value for the eb.

Yes for the eb to work you need that line. It might not work at all or the eb will use a stored value in the ecm something programed in thats a "safe" number to run

I see. Should I spend the $50 for the line the dealer wants or is there a cheaper way to maybe make one? I know I could get fittings but not sure what I'd buy for the line.

Not covered. It was bolted to the bracket from the sinister delete kit that holds that coolant hose. So now I'm trying to figure out if there's something I can use with a flexible line.

If you have instrument tubing and benders you could make your own line. Finding a flexible line to handle 1200+°F temps would be difficult.

Bingo, stainless tubing and some NPT fittings.

Or, if you have a stainless welder handy you could daub it and sand it down.

Or just buy a new one.
