Question Do stacks hurt or help when selling truck?

I am thinking of putting stacks or a single stack on my truck. I will be selling the truck in a year or 2 to get a 4WD 5 speed. Just looking for some opinions.

For most buyers it would probably be negative.

x 3... I would be hesitant to buy a truck with stacks. It would have to be really nice other than the stacks, and they would hit the scrap pile the first chance I had.

Both.

Usually positive when selling to a younger age group, highschoolers with parents money for example. If you lift something and put stacks on it .. guaranteed it will sell to someone 16-21 where I live. It's a culture almost.

But for most buyers .. like others have said. Negative. You can always just keep your stock exhaust and remove stacks when your looking to sell.

same, buying a truck with stacks says the PO knew about modifying these trucks, but you'll never know how much.

I would not even look at a truck if it had stacks.

The "BUYER" could view it as butchered...Keep that in mind if your selling..

I can personally say that I already passed on buying one because of the 8 inch hole that was in the bed and would require at least a half day of work + paint to PROPERLY restore it without ending up with a cobbed up patch job.

I would never buy a truck with stack(s) or a BOMBed engine... I want longevity and reliability and the best MPGs I can get.

93 wuntun a bombed motor gets better fuel mileage than stock though... sometimes. stacks are an eyesore unless on the right truck and they will fit younger crowd. id leave it and if someone wants to put a stack on it they have the option of doing so.

Depends on the truck, depends on the stacks, and depends on the buyer.

Putting stacks on a truck is hardly hacking it up, neither is beefing up an engine. I'm not talking about something that has obliviously been wheeled or rotted on, but when you put hours of labor + money into building a truck correctly - It doesn't depreciate it's value. You may not get everything you put into it back out of it true. But it shouldn't be worth less then a stock truck. I bought my truck for $4,500 - put about $4,000 into it .. and I've gotten offers of $9,000 cash from legitimate buyers. Thats my personal experience at least.

Yep, what he said.

I for one, would steer clear of a truck with stacks. Stacks generally mean other mod's have been done to the truck, and I don't like the idea of having to hope someone else did a good job.

On the other hand, a lot of the idiots I used to go to school with would love to buy a huge lifted truck with stacks, because they think it makes them more "redneck." I don't think rednecks listen to rap though, but I wouldn't know.
