Please correct me if I'm wrong or way past practical. The overdrive for the 4500 is onthe back of the tranny. So could a man possibly shift OD indepent of the gear shifter by air or electric thus, being able too spilt 1-2, 2-3, 3-4. Thus having 8 forward gears and 2 rev, although rev high would be totally useless. So jump in and give me your honest opion.

Still all one mainshaft, so you'd be engaging 2 gears at once which =no go I'd love a splitter though, definitely with 'ya on that one:guitar:

 

So how is OD achived than if only on mainshaft?

 

A Gear Vendors overdrive unit would be sweet.

 

Same way all other gears are achieved. The OD section just happens to be outside the casing. The only real difference is that 5th gear is splined onto the mainshaft, and freespins on countershaft, whereas the other 5 gears freespin
