I need to do the wheel bearings on my 91 4x4, and I went to the local Napa to get the tool, and I don't know which to get. They don't list the tool for the application. They have tools available, but no description in their catalogue that describes use on a 3/4 ton dodge.
We have a Dana 60 up front right?? Are the hubs the same as a 3/4 ton gasser, because they were talking about the 3000 or 4000 pound axles.
I have done this kind of job before, but these guys have left me confused..Any advice?

I was looking at the same thing today. I was assuming it took the standard D60 locknut socket.
has the six rectangular studs around the outside that index into the nut on the hub. Don't know that for a fact though. Was gonna look in my FSM when I get home tonight.

I need the big socket to remove the retaining nut. I'm pretty sure it's a basic setup in there, so not too hard to do. I just don't know what size the nut is. They had alot of sizes, just no idea what one is for my truck.

Of course the vendors don't list anything for your truck, nobody knows that Dodge even built trucks before 1994! My truck has the front axle listed at 4500#, and yes, the front axle on the W250 & W350 is a Dana 60/61. To service the front bearings, you will need a 2 9/16" thin wall conventional hex socket. To do the REAR wheel bearings, a 2 9/16" hex socket with ROUNDED corners is required. For my front, I actually used my rear rounded corner socket, then hogged out the corners with a Dremel until it fit over the nut. Kind of a hack job, but try finding the right socket for the job commercially.
Actually for the front you can get a hub socket with the studs. I got mine at NAPA as well as the one for my old 3/4 gasser with a D44 upfront. For the front I just asked for a front 4WD hub socket for a one ton. It might have been listed as fitting a Ford. For the rear I use a chisel and hammer and tap the nut off.

I needed a hub socket for my 93 350, the diesels are a 4500 lb rating, and the id of the tool was 2.545". cant remember where I got it. Its like a round pipe with the 4 tabs welded in the id of it as opposed to a pipe with the tabs welded on the end like the top of a castle. It might be a KD tools???
My 93 uses the 4 prong/tab socket. I got it at NAPA, (Never Any Parts Available), and KD makes it. I dunno if the 91's take the same one or not, but if they do, the part number on my socket is: KD 3246.

It's the heavier axle, you'll need to know that for break parts too. Is your truck inner cooled? That is probably when they changed locknut style, like everything else. The earlier version is the hex with folding tabs on the washer. Then like Chaikwa said, prongs. After you order the socket from Napa, you'll start noticing them in stock at other places.
Thanks for the input guys. Mine is a 91.5 intercooled, so I'm sure the tool alk got will work. I'll take it apart and have a look before I buy the tool thought. I appreciate the help guys!!!
