Twin turbo question of a different kind
Ok, once I get my refund Im going to be doing stocker/s400 kit, but my question is can you throw a s480 under the stocker? I know some guys, MPI use a s471 while others use a s474, but why couldnt you use a s480? The reason Im wondering is b/c I know one day Ill want to put a s300 on top and Id rather have a s480 than the s474, just for the added air now and down the road.
I know there two huge differences in the turbo, but IIRC Browns diesel is running a s362/ S595, and supposedly with great success.

I suppose you could but why would you want to? The reason people don't do that is because the exaust housing of the stocker is only 9cm. It's difficult to flow a lot of air threw a 9cm housing. Drive pressures would get out of wack even quicker I would think because you would have a hard time spoolin a s480 threw such a small housing. Thats My thought atleast

A S480 will make more boost for basically the same drive pressure. The turbine side is the same between the S480 and S400 so therefore the drive pressure is basically the same. I don't use a S471 in the stock kit.

Last thing would there be any problems running the stocker over s480?
The S400 that most use because it works well and it the best price wise is actually S475 with a 2.935" compressor wheel inducer or 74.549mm with an extended tip exducer of 3.944" or 100.178mm.
I'm not a twin turbo expert but i see no problem running a 480 with HE351 as long as you extensively port the wastegate and don't try to run nitrous or 800+HP worth of fuel.

Different things can be done to a S480 to make it spool faster also. Basically it is a 60mm over an 80mm. I've done worse (or better). My turbo setup was a 62mm over a 95mm. Having a bigger turbo underneath doesn't hurt anything except spooling. A bigger turbo can make denser air for the small turbo to compound. If you want to start making big power with that kind of setup, you definitely need to run an external gate on the manifold.
