Turbo ate something

While installing my aFe stage 2 intake I noticed that one of the blades on turbo had a white chalky substance on it like it was marked with a piece of chalk. While checking that out I saw that outer rim of horn leading to impeller was scratched up like a piece of hard wire had been spinning around edge for awhile. The blade had marks as if you had grabbed it with pliers no nicks in edge. Not bent and everything seems to be working as should be. Fan doesn't rub, although it will only spin about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn when spun with a finger. Thought it was looser than that when I last checked it, when I installed elbow for edge EZ. I get about 36lbs boost and whine sounds OK. Should I be worried. Motor didn't seem to be any worse for ware, not using oil or valve sounds. I'm a little concerned about blade flying off. Drove it about 1500 miles since I found it.

cummins says as long as the turbo produces psi and has the volume reguardless if it is passing oil and doesnt hit the houseing is ok. excessive oil passing requires remove and rebuild/replace

One blade will always have some sort of mark, in our case it is a white line on one blade.

It's a reference mark for when they balance the turbines and shaft at the factory. Also if you look close at the center hub, behind the shaft nut that keeps the turbine in place, you may see where some metal was removed for balancing.

Your turbo sounds perfectly normal based on your description IMO.
