tuner and tires and wheels

I've gotan04 ram 2500 with dual 4" mbrp exhaust and an afe intake. I want to put a programmer on it but dont want tohave to worry about my tranny anyone have any suggestions. mp8, bully dog, smarty, banks, which one would be best?
i love black smoke too! also i'm currently running 35" mickey thompson tires on procomp rims. I want to switch to 20" rims with 35" tire or a 22" rim with a 37" tire. If i go with 37" tires on 22" rims i would put a 3" body lift on top of the 6" suspension lift i already have. I was thinking about driv blitz rims or xd diesel rims. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

if you have a stock tranny, you are going to blow something, especially cause of your tire size, that hurts. save your money for a tranny. and look at the smarty jr. anything stronger like the sr, edgej/a, bully dog. your tranny will leave you stranded somewhere

I would also recommend the tranny upgrade....although I would go with Gorend or Suncoast....

If you get a programmer/chip you WILL at least TRY the higher settings , and you WILL smoke the stock tranny....ask me how I know

I am getting 17.2 handcalculated @68 mph with my 37s and the whole family incl. gear in my truck

that's a little different than your 1st post. if you want 600hp a tranny is a must. also i would suggest Smarty, tons of tunability w/ great customer service and their always working on making it better. if you want 600hp then a tranny, modified cp3 (or duals if you really want to go big), lift pump, injectors, head studs, and turbo or turbos are a few things that are also in your future.

I have a question; when stated on hp/tq say 600 range, is it on motor or to the wheels/ground??

Oh, dodge2nv, trust us on the tranny advise. I toasted my stock trans., well the previous owner took it to the edge and I finished it before I had the parts in hand to rebuild it ( was in transit via u p s )

Def do the tranny first, then smarty and lift pump fuel system, and mp8 and either a modded cp3 or dual cp3's with inj. and head studs and a bigger turbo or turbos and you should be knocking on 600's door if not more than that. BECARFUL THOUGH, THIS ALL GET REALLY ADDICTING...

You're asking a loaded question there...

I like Goerend. I have his TC, VB, etc in my trans and they work great. Is customer service and warranty are killer.

They all make good products. See what your local diesel performance shop supports and go with that! I could have picked anything for my truck (shop would get me whatever I wanted), but I chose Goerend.

I held off getting a power-adder for over a year because of my lift and rims. Had the tranny done and Smarty was on level 9 the same day...

Goerend is top notch. I had his trans in my 05, and my gf has his tranny in her 07, and shes over 650hp. His transmissions are built to handle anything you throw at them, and if they don't he'll rebuild em. His warranty is the best I've seen and he actually stands behind it, no ifs ands or buts. If it messes up, he'll fix it. Just give Dave a call and tell him what you want to do with your truck and he'll build your trans for exactly what you need, and won't try to sell you anything you don't need
