Tuff Country...............

Does anyone have any experience with the Tuff Country lift kits? I see they now have a coil spring lift kit. It is by far the best price, just wonder about quality. I am not a serious off roader and tow only on occasion (horse trailer or car trailer) mostly going for the look versus the articulation of rock crawling. Thanks.

I have a tuff country lift, and I think it falls into a economy lift. It is not made for serious off-roading, but it priced low. I don't know about the coil lift replacement, but for my lift it was a 4.5 inch spacer on top of the stock spring, not an entire replacement coil. Again, the lift works to get that lifted look, but I wouldn't take it for serious off roading.

And if I had it to do again I would have gone with the 6 inch lift with 37s...

Pretty much sums it up. Don't expect it to be the smoothest ride ever or expect to do extreme offroading. It gets the job done for what I wanted.

I wish I would've gone with the 6" and 37s as well.

The Tuff kit works great for the money. It maintains OEM ride...

If you get Bilsteen 5100's you will be very happy.

If you want much more you will have to spend MUCH more.

Superlift, BDS, Procomp etc are not really any better and some worse than Tuff's.

I would go Tuff with good shocks (Bilsteen) or go big and get a race bread suspension.

thanks.

Thats about what I was thinking. The coil spring 6 inch and a dual bilstein set up on the front. I figured the dual/better shocks would make for better ride and handling.

what would you need the dual 5100 set up for? those springs are probably stiffer than stock, and with dual bilsteins, i'd watch out for my head bouncing off the headliner!

Do you think the single shock set up is plenty or would duals be better?

with the duals your ride would be alot less bumpy but more money out of your pocket. Personaly i think that the single is fine for everyday and a little off roading but notting to crazy!. But its all up to u, what u want and how much u want to spend.

maybe there's something i'm not getting, but how would using 2 shocks cause your ride to be less bumpy? i was always under the impression that running dual shocks would 1. look cool.... and 2. distribute the load over the 2 shocks while off-roading, having them heat up less, allowing you to run a less expensive shock (like the 5100) instead of more expensive shocks like kings or sway-a-ways.

I had a Tuff country 4.5" on my 2nd gen 12v and it was a great lift for the price. I did replace the coil spacers with skyjacker full front coils thought. the other thing I would do is get replacement leafs I had an AAL and Just liked replacement leafs more

with the Tuff lift is there any worry with towing? also do they offer all the in's and out for stabilizers for bump steer and all that?

Coil Spacers are better than MOST coils...

Superlift and a few others use STIFFER than OEM spring rates...yuck!

BDS is the closest of the shelf. Custom Coils or Spacers is the way to go with good SINGLE shocks. You don't want dual anything unless they are valved to be in a dual set up.

For aroundr 1k...nothing touches a Tuff/Bilsteen combo. You need to spend 2x that before you can really get anything better...

I have had several lifts...on several trucks over the years and three different setups on my truck now...before I spent the money to step up to the "bigtime" so to speak...and it was the coil rate/shock valving that makes the biggest difference.

I'm running the 6" Tuff Country lift from Top Gun Customz with their 6" coils and my truck rides the same as stock. I didn't even upgrade to Bilsteins, but probably will eventually. I've never ran their coil spacers, but I don't think you can go wrong either way. I believe it's the best bang for your buck in suspension kits for our trucks.
