Truck fell dead

04 auto with 105k on it, stock!
It sputtered on the highway and then 15 minutes later fell dead at a stop light.

Put in 'N' and restarted just fine.

No codes, fuel filter about 2 weeks old but 1500 miles on it. Nothing else has changed. and its got fuel in tank.

Any help and pointers is appreciated!

Cracked #1 and have fuel pretty steady. I hear what I have always thought was the pump running. It has always been pretty loud.

Still no code and no guages either. So i'm gonna drop another filter in it and keep my fingers crossed.

I have a so called extended warranty, would this be covered if it is the pump going out?

Ahh the good ol lift pump. Any time a 3rd gen does ANYTHING out of the ordinary people condemn the lift pump.

"hey my tranny won't shift"- lift pump
"hey my headlights stopped working"-lift pump

Could be about a zillion things-including the lift pump.
But hey I'll jump on the hate train

It is your lift pump.

So if this warranty thing doesn't work, what are my options?

Do I replace it with the same thing? Go to dealer and pay for the in tank thing? Or are there other and better options for my buck out there?

Next, why does the truck start and run if the pump is gone?
Next Next, I don't hear it anymore, so there's my sign.

Don't replace it with DC junk.

Get a FASS replacement pump and forget about it. You'll likely notice a performance improvement as well.

Where do I shop for FASS and can I install it myself?

Your extended service contract MIGHT cover lift pump or D.C.replacement or moneys if not all towards a FASS.But FIRST you need to know IF its bad and also CALL the extended service contract folks and SEE if its a covered item.

NEW2CTD,

Your description matches my experience very closely. Quit and re-start, quit and re-start. Then dead. Lift pump.
I got a 0628 (I think it was) code.
All the new replacement pumps from Dodge are the in-tank type and are probably a lot better. If Dodge will do it under warrantee, and install the in-tank system, why blow the big bucks on a FAAS? Besides, if the FAAS ever quits you're really in trouble.
