Trans Sender in test port area, what should I see for readings?
It's not in the pan, and not in a line? The tranny temp probe in this area is in the what? The cool line or the hot line? What should I see for readings in this place?

Worthless zone as fas as temps.
You will see whatever the heat soak of the trans is at. The fluid does not circulate in these ports so its a dead pool that just reacts to the trans around it and whatever the fluid will transfer.
Generally will be 40-50 degrees less than the hot line in lockup, can be 100 degrees difference in fluid coupling. It should be close to pan temp but that is really dependent on how the trans is functioning, it could be higher\lower by 20 degrees.
The big problem is it won't react quickly to the changes that drive the trans temp that needs to be watched. If you never see you are constantly spiking 250 degrees you don't know that you have a potential slippage issue. You can't tell in traffic or on a grade that a manual downshift is need to lock the TC before the temps hit critical and the trans goes into save mode.
FYI, unless you have the probe extension you run the risk of damaging the probe, the servo behind the port, and possibly the case.

Thanks.....guess I'll have to change it out. I didn't put it in, a mechanic put it in, I would have thought that they would know better and I didn't reseach it until after it was in place.
