Thank you !! - KDP
Thank you !! - KDP
I did it thanks to you all !
Being worried about the KDP I took on the task of making sure all was fine . When I say task I almost thought in the process it would be all over my head but thanks to the wealth of information through this forum I have been able to fix several problems at once . Mind you be it a 12V 94 engine , rated 230 HP mounted in a RV (rear) things where at times a bit more intensive and confusing to say the least . some items are positioned different , sizes are different etc .
As I appeared to have a small leak somewhere my radiator ( big sucker) and intercooler where clogging up big time due to the 27 inch fan blowing it all into it ( with some desert dust) . taking out the radiator ( had to and even had to replace it as after testing it it was going out ) the intercooler and shroud, fan was a task on its own . Initially was not able to take out the balancer and almost gave up on going for what I initially intended to do but thanks to the hints and tips ( screwdriver through the holes of the balancer blocked by a nut of the cover ) I was able to remove it . took of the cover and .... am I happy I did . the pin was out a bit ! . I forgot to measure it but looked like the pics one can find before tapping it !. tapped it back in cut from a washer a tab , and covered the pin . Checked the torq on the other bolts inside also . Putting a new seal for the shaft did go very well ( thanks again to all the tips and hints ) . new gasket, with some extra grey stuff ( between gasket and cover ) and back on went everything . did I mention I ofcourse pressurewashed the whole thing before I started and finally put some new paint on various parts to make it look good :-) ?
the whole process gave me a change to check on all the hoses their mountings etc as in an rv the rubbing often creates leaks ( seems they have never found out a way yet to locate those in a more secure way ).
so far after a few initial drives I have not found any sign of oil leak or else but I keep my fingers crossed for when I have some more miles done . My thoughts are the leak higly likely was comming form the seal ( very greasy in the rim/dustcover) .
ok, I am proud I made it (prob would have been a little easyer if it would have been in a truck ) .
again thank you all for alll the info hints and tips you all make available !
so far done :
- replaced the exhaustmanifold ( warped and some bolts were broken of not to mention the others where pretty well rusted in)
- checked the intercooler and replaced some boots after reading how to test for leaks and what to use .
- checked and adjusted the valves.
- replaced a ( guess that would be the return ) fuel line after it sprong a leak due to rubbing
- replaced a hydrolic hose after leeaking due to rubbing.
- replaced radiator
- fixed the KDP ( and prob solved the oilleak in the process)
all in all I am happy that thanks to the " tuning" and leak fixes ( turbo) I am getting a 13Mi/G smooth ride
