What will it take to run 12's?

Im not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not but im trying to get an idea of what it will take to make my truck run high 12's in the 1/4 mile? New transmission/torque converter? Turbo? injectors? Any input at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys. Oh yeah and i would like to do it on diesel only.

I havent run mine yet, due to winter, but I will be severly disappointed if mine isnt low 12's. So you can use that as a blueprint if you would like. I have measured 0 - 60 times less than 5 seconds, and that was before injectors, IC and high ram, fluid dampner. Those numbers should translate to mid to high 12's

With the mods in my signature I can run in the high 12s now. 12.7s and 12.8s with a good launch. The TC/Transmission upgrade is probably the most crucial upgrade to get into the 12s. There are a lot of combos that will get the engine in the hp range you need, but no matter how much power the engine can make you need to be able to put it on the ground. 60' time is critical. The following run is 1.84s 60', 8.13s @ 85.69mph 1/8 and 12.79s @ 104.1mph 1/4. I run in 4wd with 20+psi boost launch.

Since you have an 05 get the scary larry bully dog program, pressure box, fuel system, built trans, and a turbo of your choice and you'll easily be in the 12s... Add twin cps, flux injectors, and a BIG turbo and youll be over 800hp and running in the 11's.

I would copy grey rigs truck. HTS tranny, GDP fuel system, studs, A5000, pressure box.

I've put down a best as listed in my sig. Never backed it up, but she ran consistent 12.5's that night at the track in good weather. Went out to the track a week ago and with no traction and the nitrous, posted a new best mph of 13.14@112.7mph and spinning thru the 60ft, only made 2.48sec on that time. Elev was 1500ft.

Cant wait to see what this thing does with some drag radials (as all #'s have come on stock type street tires) and lower 60ft times!!!!!!!! (never ran lower than 2.001 60ft) Should make high 11's no problem. Still on stock CP3, 3.5inch downpipe, Reg Juice Box and no internal mods to engine.

He has a 4 door 4x4. Little bit of difference when compared to a single cab 2wd...

Still should be close to equal, due to the traction issue, I will make a bet that ss will be solidly in the 11's with better traction. With a 4x4 he should see those numbers just based on better traction

So are you saying that a 4 door 4x4 weighing 7,000+ will run 12.49 (or faster) with the following mods?

Phat Shaft 62/14 Turbo
Edge Juice/Attitude stacked w/Diablo Predator
70hp Dynomite Diesel Injectors

yup,, and I hope that I will prove it this spring. I am pretty sure that my truck maybe with a small shot of nitrous will be close to the 11's.

Barry from NADP has both of his duallys in the mid 12's with 66's, ppe, dr performance and small 1 shot of nitrous. He has rode in mine, and is quite confident of low 12's

So how do you keep a "low 12 second truck" cool with a 6280. My 66 runs HOT.

I've seen my 1600 gauge pegged numberous times. I can't imagine a 62...
