T-409 or T-304

Looking at aftermarket exhausts, the T-409 stainless has a higher iron content and is more **** to rusting. Does anyone on here have this system and how happy are you with it's durability? I'm considering the price difference between it and the T-304, over $300.00 LCH

I have it . It's 90% rusted in one year , driving in Tn. I wish I had kept the stock pipe and only changed the muffler .

409 304

The difference between the 409 and 304 stainless is more than just iron, it's also how hard, brittle, prone to heat, ect. 409 is what the stock system has and while it will rust faster than 304 (more or less it turns gray/brown color) it's also better for heat/cold applications. 304 tends to get a bit more brittle with heat/cold. Either way your good to go, and I've had my system on for a while. It's not "rusting" par say, but it's turning a gray, brown color. it comes with a 5 year warrenty, and I would have gotten the 304, but it was a bit outa my price range.

Hope this helps

The cost is holding me back also, I know most of the time you get what you pay for but I wasn't sure if this is one of those times. If the stock system is 409, I'm happy with the look of it just wish it was bigger and sounded different, you know the same ony different LOL LCH

LCH,

The stock system is 409 and both it and an aftermarket will get gray/brown with time and even get some spots on it over time. The material will hold up and not fail but it will get "un pretty" per say over time. 409 is a magnetic stainless while 304 contains a lot of nickel and chromium, hence the extra cost and will basically stay like it is out of the box forever. Costs more and is harder but works and stays pretty longer then we wil lbe around. We stock all the MBRP systems in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless, if you have any questions let us know!
