Straight Pipe

I've been reading on here that you can get Dodge to replace your muffler with a pre-bent piece to straight pipe your truck and not void any warranties. I think I'm gonna go for this cause it sounds like cheap, quick solution for the exhaust. Was wondering though if there's any difference in horsepower/fuel economy with staight piping compared to performance mufflers?

I'm making almost a 5k trek across country, so I'm also thinking that I might as well get an intake upgrade if i'm gonna mess with the exhaust. This takes care of the "Air In" part, but will straight piping take care of the "Air Out" part? Thanks in advance guys.

i have a straight pipe, but if your going to be pulling a trailer that far(dont know if u are) your going to hate the straight pipe be fore u get there. the first week i had my truck i put a straight pipe and pulled a 40ft enclosed trailer to pennsylvania the to cali then back home and i thought i was going to die.

My guess would be that the straight pipe would give you the most performance v.s. a performance muffler b/c there are still chambers in the muffler that will give you backpressure and slow you down

I'm thinking of straight pipe from the Kitty back. Will I still have the drone in the cab?

I have Geno's Muffler Elimination Kit installed on my truck (just replaces the muffler with a straight pipe) but kept the kitty. It sounds great, except the drone I get at 1500rpms. Not bad unloaded but pretty load while towing. But you know what.... I wouldn't change a thing

yes should have same performance gains from buying anyother 4" exhaust system. I love my straight pipe, and for some reason with the chip in it drones less

plenty of places do, your not looking at the right place, you can't go to a Meinekee and expect them to have 4" and bend 4" pipe. Go to a place that works on equipment and trucks, they will have what your lookig for. you drive a big truck now...
