o.k. guys need a little input on smarty jr settings. I just picked up a used smarty jr with the 5.10b software. I have a bone stock 06 with auto tranny. I will be leaving first thing friday morning for the holiday weekend. Will not be towing anything this trip. I know every truck is different but since I dont have time to plug and play before I leave what would be a good level to start with for best mpg? I was thinking level 2 (towing)set on default settings? What do you guys think? Thanks in advance! By the way I do not have a heavy right foot. I stay right around 1800 rpm set on cruise.

 

Bob says performance mode is the best. I didnt have any luck with the version that was on my jr when I got it on the performance, but I updated it and I am going to try again and drop the POD to 75 and see

 

I run on the econo mode and get 19.5 mpg hand calculated,

 

I also run econ and hand calced 20.5 last night on my fillup. My overhead said I was at 22.9

 

I have a standard trans but I run SW3 TQ2 TM4
I tried the mileage tune (SW1) and no matter what I set the timing and torque to, I would get a good dark haze during every shift. It smoked way more for me and mileage dropped. I went back to SW3 and mileage is back up and very little haze now.

 

On autos SW3 will yield the best mileage.. TM4 also yields the best mileage in each setting.. but smokes a little more down low and increases soot loading in you oil a little more (if you change at 3K intervals, not an issue).

 

where did you get this info? hwy/city or just overall?....thanks

 

Personally i think i get better in SW 3 with the pod set at 75 on the Hwy with my 48re trans. Its slower off the line but then again on the open road whats that matter.

 

I my self found no gain using POD for mileage on long trips or in town which I do very little. My thought is it takes so much kinetic energy to move 7k regardless so if your at 99pod or 75pod you will still need the same energy to move a 7k object at 75mph no matter what, unless you change aerodynamic drag then you will gain mpgs and both will improve.
I found my best mpgs long travel no load SW3 TM4 TQ stock avg mpg was 20.6 at avg speed of 72 mph.
