since my cummins is out

I'm in the process of swapping my automatic out for an nv4500 (the truck in my sig.). I pulled out my motor to change motor mounts, oil pan gasket, front seals and kdp fix, head gasket and studs possibly. My question is is there anything else that should/could be looked after with it out? Any and all input would be appreciated even just to get me thinking. I am also bolting on a HE351cm.
Thanks, Darren

Tappet cover gasket! Mine wasn't leaking until I put the motor back in my Crew, now it's like the river of black! Wish I would of done it while it was out, in the truck looks like a pain in the ....!

Paint it? Rear main? Core plug in back of motor? Gasket match head and manifold? Check all front end bushings and king pins? Fuel supply lines and lift pump upgrade?

Front end is pretty well all new. Have new rear main seal, will check the tappet cover. What do you mean gasket match head and manifold. Thanks for replying

Studs were surprisingly no trouble in the engine bay but i bet outside of the engine compartment would be even easier. i woudlnt remove the head unless you plan on getting the head milled flat. IMO

Open up the exhaust side of the head and manifold with a bur bit, so that they match the gaskets.......clear we mud? Like a port job on the head but not nearly as involved.

yeah might as well port it if you have the head off or at least gasket match it along with the manifold. And yeah might as well clean it up and paint it and make it look purdy!

May go with a cam if you have the money, although I've heard they help and others say they don't make a bit of difference. I'm sure it depends on what one you get to.

I need to do what your doin... my KDP that isn't fixed is always at the back of my mind
