Simple Exhaust Question

Alright, I know this is the high performance forum and my question is not exactly high performance, but it is a performance question.

My exhaust tail pipe has sprung out of the support clip. So I got in there to lift it up and get it back in place, but with the limited tooling I have here with me while on the road I couldn't get it by myself. So I had an idea, I would have a muffler shop fix the tail pipe for me, but also remove the large muffler. This would obviously leave the small muffler and the cat converter.

I don't expect a significant change in anything other than tone. I also considered removing both mufflers. Does anyone else have any experience with this? How much louder can I expect it to be with one or both mufflers removed.

there should only be one muffler and a cat. i removed the muffler and loved the sound until i wanted more and moved up to a 5". leave the cat, its federally mandated and doesnt yield alot of performance gains by ditching it.

have them replace the muffler with some 4" and call it good. i bet youll like it

With the MegaCab there are two mufflers, one big and one small, but while he is doing the work I can give it a go with both mufflers removed and listen to it. Just running straight out of the CAT.

My exhaust is 4 inch from the turbo back already stock.

Thanks for the tips.

after i typed that, i remembered something about the megas needed to try and out-do the quads with having more mufflers...

itll sound good w/ only the cat...not to loud either

I figured they just wanted to weigh it down with the extra muffler. I think I will play with it a bit while I am up there.

The resonator on the t/pipe is to reduce resonance, remove it and you will not be so happy when towing..............unless you are under 30
