ruined K&N...

Updated to a BHAF from Napa today. Had some free time this morning and I changed my oil and while sitting around, checked my K&N airfilter. Sometime last night I guess (hope) some birds got into my air box (lots of extra holes in it) and started to build a nest, probably had about half the airbox full of stuff. Even worse, they also decided to peck a dang hole in filter. Oh well, had to upgrade to a BHAF. Since I work for a company that buys alot of stuff from the local Napa, I got a 50% discount on my filter, knocked it down to only $34 dollars. Not to bad I guess. Can I expect any improvement from the BHAF over my old K&N?

My K&N was thrown out and I went back to the Fleetguard stocker type. K&N's work great in all of my gassers but don't do squat for my diesel. BHAF is the solution.

K&N definitely isnt the best choice on a Cummins anyway. Get yourself an Outerwares prefilter and your BHAF will last for a very long time.

I ended up pop riveting some 1/4'' hardware cloth over the inlet to my stock air box. Had mice do the same thing to my filter as the birds did to yours. Plus they stuffed the box full of the insulation from under the hood. Truck didn't run well at all.

I think you should get them to warranty it.
Just kidding of course. Its mouse season here and they start looking for places...I better take defensive measures before I see them spinning in the shaker hood filters.

Some people claim the K&Ns don't filter adequately but it most often can be attributed to poor servicing and installation habits. Read and follow K&Ns instructions to a T and you'll have no problem.

yeah most of the problems are with improper servicing......

BUT, K&N's do tend to let a lot of crap through and they dont fit the stock airbox very well. JMO.
