Rear brakes...again

My rear brakes are giving me a tough time. They lock up in slick conditions. I'm not talking about 1st thing in the morning when I leave the driveway and they lock up. Whenever the roads are slick( during/after a rain) the rear brakes lock up very easy. It makes it pretty tough to drive especially in traffic in the city. The rears will lock up even under light braking, but only when the roads are slick. It brakes well when the roads are dry. I know that the axle seals are good and I have the chevy cylinders. I have also replaced the master cylinder. There is no oil on the pads or drum. Can this problem be solved by adjusting the shoes? Do I need to replace shoes/drums? I need some help before I slide sideways to a stop and end up having a wreck. The truck is a 1996 2500 extended cab 4x4 with an auto tranny.

I've got the same problem with both my trucks. Drivers side locks up whenever the road if wet and will throw you though the wind sheild if braking from a slow rate of speed on dry pavement. Try adjusting the passenger side up manually you will probly find that it it way loose. It helped mine, just have to do it every couple of weeks till I can replace the self adjuster."hope that fixes it"

If your shoes have ever gotten oily from a leak that has been fixed they will stick.
They can't really be cleaned and have to be replaced.
Could have happened under a previous owner.

That's not the problem. I replaced the shoes a few months ago because of a leaking seal. I fixed the seal and replaced the pads. I'm thinking that it is the proportioning valve. This truck is dangerous! I didn't think I was going to make it home today. I never know what the brakes are going to do. I can barely apply the brakes and the rears will lock up.
