What is a realistic price?

I'm looking for a 3rd Gen. CTD 2500 or 3500. Has to be 4X4 and has to have 4 doors, mileage under 100,000 and auto. What can I realistically plan to pay for one if I start shopping around?

Also, do you have a recommendation on whether one particular year is better than another? I'm hoping to stay under $20,000 because I only have a 2 door, 99 toyota tacoma to trade on it, but I'm sure you guys can tell me if that's realistic. I don't expect much more than $5000 for the Toyota give or take. Thanks in advance.

$23k for an 07 for 85k. That doesn't seem bad.

I paid $22.5k for my 06 w/ 10k miles on it in May of last year (2008). Granted it's only a 2wd, but I would think you should be able to find something w <100k miles for under $20k

Hector,

Right on man, I've been on Autotrader's nutz for the last couple days. They seem to go in waves. 6 months ago, you could have your pick of trucks, now, it's hard to find any unless I search within 500 miles of my zip code. I'm lookin' on vehix.com too but besides ebay motors, vehix and autotrader, there's not a whole lot.

I sold my 2004 2wd dually with 23,000 miles for 18K in May this year. It was in show condition and even had 22.5 Alcoas and was truck of the month last year. The market is really down now. The buyer came from Memphis to Jacksonville to get my truck.

I know what you mean.. I drove about 300 miles to look at 1 (Called the guy b-4 I went) says there's not a scratch on the truck ''It's like brand new'' wanted 29 k.. Any way, when I got there the paint was beat off the truck. I didn't say a word just drove off.. Finally found the 1 I own within 100 miles

You guys get some pretty good deals, I did some local truck shopping in north Texas and they are ridiculous the only one that was in a good price range but nothing else was an 06 2wd with 148k for $18750. All the others where outrageous. A 4wd with 85k for around $22500 I would definitely jump on it! Here's another one 05 4x4 100k $23k

I also thought I'd see a lot of used ones coming in once the 2010's come out. Guys are just holding onto them until they can get the new body style. We'll see cuz I think the new style should be hitting the lots soon, right? I went to my local dealer (Shively Motors, Chambersburg) and they had 1 Diesel left. They normally had about 7 or 8.
