Quadzilla pressure Box??

Okay, I'm not exactly mechanically savay so bear with me. I was doing a search for some ways to increase fuel mileage and came across an old thread about a Quadzilla Pressure box. I have searched the net all night and cannot find a "pressure box" at all. Can someone inform me what this is or if this exists??

I have a 2003 2500 5.9 quad cab short bed and have made no mods yet so I'm trying to make the best decision.

Thanks,

Larry

just my opinion since i went thru 3 sets of injectors when i used a box that increased the rail pressure try to find one that does try to increase the hp by turning up the pressure

There was a good thread on the compd forum about pressure boxs and it seems the consensus was the better of them were the MP8 and the DR Performance units. Evidently these are the only two units that can raise the RP without fatal spikes to it. The rail spikes are thought to be what is causing the injector failures.

I've had 3 quad boxes and they do more then just preassure. Got to quadzillapower.com to see there products. I was very happy with the quad products I had. You'll find 2 main players in the power area on here most are Smarty and others are Quadzilla mods. then seems the rest fall in line. Quad has some darn good cust. service as far as I know I've delt with. XZT did good good power and mileage and my std did good but my X2 std did real good best mileage and power was on 60hp for my driving style.
Just my 2 cents.

The only reason a pressure box would crack injectors is if you aren't using a good fuel filter or changing them enough. And if you run full throttle alot. Small bits of dirt getting by and lodging in tips and the added pressure tries to force it past the tip and can crack it. I've ran my quad xzt for 2 years and it works great with my stock injectors. It increases pressure through the rpm range while staying under the max allowed by the cummins. It also adds a small amount of timing for an increase in mileage (2-3 for me). The added pressure scared me untill I found out that the max pressure only happens at wide open throttle which I don't use much. I was more after towing power and added mileage. The xzt gives a nice boost in both.

dku7,

What are you pulling and how often? I'm just pulling a camper under 30 foot through the summer and a utility trailer to haul 1000lb bales of hay throughout the year, but the added power and mileage would be great!

Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing the Quad box or any other, just trying to put to rest some myths. While I believe impurities (water being the worst IMO) are a issue, your statement is not entirely correct. First the dirtier the filter the finer the filtering until all flow is lost. Second your filter allows particles of the same size thru regardless of RP so the higher pressure is what causes the cracks not the impurities as they were always there. A 10k psi spike just multiplied the problem expidentially
Gregs data log graph clearly shows wicked spikes in RP with one of the most popular units on this board

Many have had great success with the Quad and all the other boxs but there are also numerous failures with many of them that have never been definitively tied to why.
Just my $.02

If your only objective is to get a little extra towing power, the quad set on 60hp will get you what you need. I ran that towing 11k for a couple of years before I got the Smarty. Now I run both stacked.

From my experience and numerous tests using only the Quad, only Smarty, and many different combinations of settings, no mileage increase was ever realized.

Get yourself a set of gauges and have fun.

I've got a quad 60 hp xzt tow box sitting on my shelf. I sent it into quad for the latest updates 2 months ago, and never installed it again. I'll sell it if anybody is interested.
Make me an offer via PM.

I have one of those also, it has been sent to them three times for repairs and when I get it back it works for a while then it starts messing up again. Last time I called about it the tech asked a few questions and then said he had to talk to someone about it and would call me back. That was about a year ago and I am still waiting for the call.
