Pyro Probe

Ok, desided to drill my manifold but I was jsut wondering how thick the manifold walls are i have the tighting nut and the compression sleeve already on the probe.. and its locked on there witch leaves about 2 3/4" hanging down after i screw it into the manifold.. this was already on there when i got it.. so what iam guessing is they had it in the exhaust Pipe..?
so my Question is how far down does the prope have to be in the manifold.? right to the bottom or somewhere in between.?
Total lenght of the prope is 4"

The tip of the probe should be about center in the manifold port.
