Question Pro Comp 3" Lift

I was talking to my Pro Comp dealer about their leveling kit for my truck and he mentioned that they have just come out with a new 3" kit. Has anyone installed this new lift on their truck and if so, what is your opinion?? I have 315/70R17 BFGs and they rub on the control arms and I was going to get a 2" leveling kit, but now I'm not sure if I'd rather go with the 3" lift.

I installed a 2" coil spacer in the front of my dually. It still has a bit of a slope. It was around $200.00 CND. I should have replaced the shocks with longer ones. I will do tha tthis summer. I tow with weight dis. bars so it is not noticalbe. when empty the odd bump will top out the shocks

I am interested in the 3 inch pro comp kit. If you get one installed please post pictures. I want to be able to run the 35/12.50/17 that are available in the aftermarket. Pro comp says their kit will clear the 35's. Tuff country lits seem to be more popular, but why go 4.5" if the 3 " will clear.

If the tires rub on the control arms teh lift is not a solution. you have a wheel offset issue not a lift issue.

The advantage of the 4.5" lift is that it includes the control arms and the drop steering link. Going to 3" is likely going the stress those comonenets to the limit with the additional length.

Just do it right and be done with it. The truck is big heavy and expensive. It's no wonder the Tuff country is the most common, it's the best all around solution. The 35's are going to be really close to the airdam and the the front mud flaps on a lock turn with only 3" of lift. I'm about 1.5 inches away with a 4.5" lift and 35" tires.

The 3" pro comp lift includes new control arms and a drop bracket for the steering. Plus the pro comp kit includes the adjustable mx-6 shocks for the price. I am not intrested in really offroading my new $45K truck. I just want a better lok while driving around the constuction sites and pulling my boat, which is why I don't want the extra 1.5" of lift if not needed. I have a hard enough time keeping the trailer at the right height now.

I was just checking their site and it looks like it's just a 3" lift for the front, nothing for the rear. Seems the truck would sit nose-high without a block or add-a-leaf in the rear. I would be interested in the 3" lift if they compensated for the rear. I really don't like the nose-high look. Here's the site:

http://www.explorerprocomp.com/dodge0204.html

The literature at the top of the page say it will clear the 35s, but the spec chart at the bottom says 33x12.50 is max tire size.

Tuff country is proven it works and it's nice. don't spin your wheels and do it twice.

Remember this saying my dad used to say to me:

There is never enough time or money to do it right, ...... but always enough to do it over. Just bit the bullet and make it perfect from the start

Do yourself a favor and read the fine print on those kits. Most say not intended for off road use. Show and go only!

Rancho and Tuff country do not say that. They do however print several warnings but do not say not for off road use!

I have a 2" Tuff Country leveling kit and 35x12.5x17 BFG Muds. I am very happy with it. I get a little rubbing on my mud flaps but nothing I can't live with. As mentioned before, my truck is not a serious off road machine. I have jeeps for that and I have the truck to trailer the jeeps.

As far as what brand if you want a bigger lift, let's just say that I don't agree with JJHACK. However, I do have some questions about your lift. How much longer are the control arms than stock? What is provided to correct the track bar/Panhard bar?

Really??? that interesting....I do know that Tuff Country lifts probably get some real world testing on the Moab rocks....

Good info. You probably have had more lift kit experience than I have.

Whatever happened to the rubicon express lift kits that were supposed to be coming out?

Food for thought . I have 4.5 inch Tuff Country Lift with 315/17s on 17x10 Weld Wheels. Truck was not meant to go off road. It rides absolutely terrific. Front part of lift has 4.5 inch spacer, rear part of lift has only 2inch block, truck rides level, if some of you guys are worried about truck being to tall in back for towing its only up 2 inches in back. Take a look at my photo gallery for pictures of my truck with lift and tires on.

I would be worried about the nose sitting too high.

Has anyone out there installed the 3" Pro Comp kit yet? Anyone know if it fits a SRW 3500? Anyone off-roaded with it yet?

With just the 2" spacer, I cleared my 35's pretty well. Does the ProComp kit just have a 3" spacer? I don't think I've seen that kit yet. Seems to me like most of theirs and Tuff Country go the cheaper route with spacers instead of coils.
