My son just traded in his 99 3500 extended cab on a 2007 3500 duelley. and the dealer he went to, gave him 16,500 and his had 109k miles on it. both have 4wd.. In my local paper I've seen them (02's) for 19k/ 22k .

People are asking way the heck to much for their trucks it disgusting. So pretty much my buddies 02 with 55K miles should be worth 30K compared to the one with 109K miles??? I've seen 03/04 in the high teens and low 20's. It all pretty much depends on the area and deffinatley the person. I saw a guy get rid of a 91 4x4 reg cab 5spd that needed a trans for 5300 bucks, that is about double what I would have paid. Also try nada.com and kbb.com seems to be pretty accurate since they have 3 you can select from. Take it for what its worth.

Dealers only pay wholesale period. If he gave you more than that, he marked up the sale side. Best bet is to talk a dealer into letting you look at his black book. Otherwise &/or ask a bank (banks don't take risks) what the loan value is as a wholesale approximation. Check kbb also, the more sources the better you're looking for the value range.

I just got this 02 with 72,800 miles for $20783 however its a 4x4 and they originally wanted $24,995 for it. I got the 20783 price quote via internet salesman and apparently they accidentaly gave me the quote as if it was a 2001 but after lots of bickering around they decided to honor the internet quote that I received. If I had to guess I'd say that your 2002 2 wheel drive is roughly 18k to 20k. Then again in AK trucks tend to run $500 to $1000 more than they do in the 48 contiguous states. Check the nada trade in value before going to the dealer. Its almost always a grand or 2 higher than kbb and make them pay that price for it or dont make a deal of course trade in value is likely 16k to 17k. If you can do it, sell it yourself. Dealer offered me $8000 on a truck that I was able to sell for $9500. Also be wary of dealers that give you great generous prices for your trade in and then get it all right back with their little scam add ons. With those extended warranties that dealers sell make sure its not one of those "you pay up front" and then request reimbursements. Those things are WORTHLESS.
