performance chip & synthetic oil

performance chip & synthetic oil
I have a 2000 Dodge 1-ton dually diesel. We pull a 30' 5th wheel. We frequently go to the mts. of Colo., Wyo, & Montana. Would it be advantageous to intstall one of the advertised performance chips? Second question: what about using synthetic oil in the engine? Would it be cost effective? Thanks for the advice & help. Ray
