Optima blue top batteries

I have 2 optima blue top batteries which are the deep cycle versions. I used to use them in my race car, and now i have no more use for them. Would there be any damage done if i were to put them in my truck in place of the factory batteries? Not sure what the alternator would do to a deep cycle battery if anything. Thanks guys.

From what I have been told you can drop any series of the optimas in and be fine. Sizing for fit is the only issue. I am about to buy the reds.

Yellows and Blues are identical-- Red tops are a little different.

Any will work just fine in our application. Red work better in most gassers, but your intake heaters draw enough juice to make a deep cycle not panic.

Are the blues the true deep cycle battery? If I'm not mistaken, deep cycles are not designed for high current draws like those from engine starters. I'm not 100% on this so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Not true... The Blue ones are just marketed for marine use. They make a blue starting battery and a blue deep cycle battery. Same thing with Yellow tops. Check it out...
But the Red tops only come in starting batteries...

I thought the same thing but I learned otherwise. THeir marketing people have the public confused about their product colors.
Their actual part numbers differ between a blue marine DeepCycle and a blue marine starting batt. Notice the "D" in the deep cycle batt part numbers, and the lack of the "D" in the SLI batt of the same group size.
They do offer a bewildering array of terminal configurations for both type of batteries regardless of top color.
Take a look at the actual life spec's for each type of battery, deep cycle-vs-SLI. Specifically, observe the cycle life of each type of battery when deep cycled... 50 -vs- 350 cycles! There is a BIG difference.
