Noisy SB clutch after new tranny install
About a week ago I put in a brand new G56 transmission in my truck. (Broke 3rd gear in the old tranny) I never touched the clutch because it only has 70K on it and was operating perfectly.
Now the clutch rattles much louder then before at idle. If I turn my high idle on it helps a lot with that. But also just driving the truck it is louder especially at lower RPMS.
I have pulled a few 40K loads with it since and the clutch holds and releases fine and the tranny shifts great. Any ideas of why it is louder now then before??
clutch is a SB DD 3600 12 button hub sprung.

Add an extra quart of oil through the top, this does help. Also if you rev the engine and push the clutch pedal before it idles it can help with centering and preloading the clutch center plate. Mine always sounds like I'm going to throw a rod.

Yea, I guess so a piston rod, a loud knocking noise just a figure of speech. But it went away with the extra oil. I put 1/2 quart syncrmesh and the other half lucas oil stable (flows like honey). No more noise.
