Newbie tentative purchase

Help. I thought I had my mind made up about a 06 Mega Cab Diesel Manual with 2wd. Now, I'm reading that the a/c won't cool the cab, here in hot Texas. That 2wd will get stuck on wet pavement and that the truck has vibrations. It's used with 60k and a good price. Also, is there something about 60k. I've found several in my area and they all have around 60k miles. Anyway, great website and I hope to be reading more on here soon.
Thanks

I dont have the mega so Im not sure about the air, my QC cools fine. I do know that if you are going to be off road then 4X4 is the only way to go. These trucks are heavier and will get stuck easier IMO. I went with a 4X4 instead of the 2 and am glad I did, Ive needed it several times. Welcome to the site.

So far the AC in my CC had worked fine.

You don't need wet pavement for them to get stuck just spit in the street and you'll spin and go nowhere.

If you're going to get one get 4wd.

I have had NO problems with the AC not cooling down my Mega. Cab actually gets cold and I have to turn the blower down.

Don't know about the 60K reference. I have 36K on mine, but I do not drive as much as most and have another vehicle I run about in.

NO vibration problems either. Can't speak to getting stuck, I have a 4x4. Lots of power, if you tromp on it too much at takeoff, dump the clutch fast, you can break the wheels loose-dry or wet pavement.

I'm perfectly happy with my Mega, would buy another, great truck.

Welcome to the forum.

If the truck vibrates, it could be something simple like a U joint, but I'd want to know for sure before I buy. If it is an 03, there was an updated power steering hose, the supply line to the brake booster. The newer line has a metal crimp and a big weight mid-run, to cure a dash/pedals/steering wheel vibration that only happens right at 2000 rpm.

As far as AC goes, these are set up so that coolant flows through the heater core all the time, and temp is controlled by blend doors that determine how much air goes through the heater core, and how much goes around.

Cooling can be greatly increased by installing a ball valve in the heater hose...

I've definately have issues cooling my megacab. Have read the fix above, but for the life of me can't figure out how a mini van made by the same company can be effectively cooled, but they couldn't figure it out for the mega....

I also have the vibration on take-off. Probably a mix of the lift compounded with axle wrap...

Do no know why 60K was why you find lots, unless that was the mileage specified for some leased vehicles to be turned in? Doesn't match with warranty either....

Definitely go for a 4x4. I got stuck in my Mamaws yard one morning just from the dew on the grass!

I looked back and both tires were just turning slowly.

My AC works great. There is a fix to make it cooler. Haven't felt the need to do it with mine.

Haven't had any AC issues with my Mega. Pretty cool in the summer up here, but took a 10 day trip to Missouri this summer and it kept the whole cab nice and chilly in high 90's and humid.
