Need Some Quick Lock-Up Switch Wiring Help

So the wire that taps into the orange/black wire goes to the switch, and then ground the switch right guys?

Then do I put a resistor on the wire that taps into the orange/black - switch?

So, I believe I got it....

Use the 33ohm 1/2 watt resistor and the jumper inplace of the relay and save yourself alot of headaches.

Splice into the orange/black wire, run through the firewall and go to your switch. Come out of your switch with a wire and ground it to an existing bolt. This ground wire is where the 33ohm 1/2 matt resistor will be placed.

Correct?

The resistor doesn't have to be exact, I used a 40 ohm I had on hand. But I believe it will buffer the signal a bit to the computer. Don't take a chance, get one for a buck at radio shack.

does the resistor make the shifts more smooth when you turn the lock up switch on? or what is it for?

I believe that's the case, just slows the lockup a smidge. Keeps such a harsh change from hurting the electronics.

For some reason my truck won't lockup with a resistor between the switch and ground.

I have a stock VB and it will lock in 2nd 3rd and OD... if you have OD turned off then it will lock up in 2nd and 3rd and it will not shift into OD... it's a great mod if you have alot of in town driving with speeds between 30-40mph... it allows you to hold OD and maintain 40 mph with about 950rpm instead of 1,250

I've been runnning this way for a while and have averaged a gain a 2.6 mpg in town currently maintaining 19.4 in city

The resistor allows leaving the relay in and not throw a code and go into limp mode. Doesn't change shifting characteristics.
