Need small reduction in EGT
Need small reduction in EGT
Towed the new TT through the mountains for the first time and it's apparent I need a small reduction in EGT's. On the long hills I can easily exceed 1200 F. I would like to keep it on the conservative side, like 1100 on the long pulls. What would be the best bang for the buck? Get rid of the BHAF/heatshield and go with AFE or something similar? Exhaust upgraded to 4" ? Having to let off on the hills is a pain, what's the point of the extra power if you can't use it.
A Scotty II air intake would give you 100* temp reduction if you can find one. Maybe Lary here on DTR still has some as Scotty's site in inactive and it appears he is contemplating getting out of the diesel business. Regardless, this is a great intake and legitimately reduced egt 100* or more.
My '99 has an ATS 4" exhaust with an ATS manifold and AFE intake. Also running Don's Mach 2s with a Comp set on Kill (5x5) .
I can barely reach 1250* pre turbo when towing my camper and enclosed trailer with 5000 lbs in it, even on long steep grades.
