Re:My 30' engine misses when Cold
Suggestions: Move to Texas, next door to Hoss.
Do you wait for the heater to shut off before you start it? Does the heater light cycle?
BTW, when did the 30' trucks become available ??? : ;D

Is this a problem only when you start it up or the whole time it's running?
[/quote]
Only till it warms up for the first 5-10 minutes, could it be the fuel filter

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
Re:My 30' engine misses when Cold
If it's just until it warms up then I'd say it's probably normal. In fact, I thought I read/heard somewhere that these engines are designed to shut off some of the cylinders until the engine warms up.....but I may be thinking of something else because that doesn't make much sense. :

Re:My 30' engine misses when Cold
Hoss i think what ur thinking of is the cold start feature which alows the engine to idle on 3 cylinders until it warms up or u hit the gas, brake, clutch or other..which should start all the cylinders firing....how cold it it there?

Even though I dread taking my truck to the dealer I would not hesitate to take it in if it was missing. It is under warranty. Let the dealer fix it and forget trying to diagnose it on the net.

I took my truck to the dealer, they told me that the truck in cold conditions runs on alternating cylnders, they said that is normal, also I have verfied this with Cummins intermountian.

I thought it had to be really COLD for the cold idle to kick in.
It hasn't been that cold in Utah yet.

Routerguy, you should know that the "gentlemen" on this forum never forgive the smallest error. So suggest you modify your 30 foot engine to an '03. That is, unless you enjoy the ragging. ;D
