Mach 4 Injectors - WOW!

Lattest technology from F-1 Diesel is impressive!...and I say this coming from last years Mach 2's.

The Mach 4's absolutely puuur at idle...smoother than my 2's.....maybe cause they're new?
Much more responsive at ALL rpm's...including leaving a red light.
100* lower EGT's maintaining cruise speed...tested at both 60 & 70 mph.
50* lower EGT than Mach 2's at WOT with PM3 off...running EZ only
A little hotter at WOT with PM3 on #9...but not as much as I expected from 50% more hp.
Biggest suprise...LESS smoke than #2's. Less smoke in city driving and during mild acceleration at cruise...and at WOT.
The only time I saw more smoke was lugging the engine. You don't want to find yourself in a low boost - heavy throttle situation with these babys...unless you want to!

Had heard Don M. had figured out how to get more HP with less smoke and lower EGT's. Wasn't totally convinced...till I saw it with my own eyes.

A young fella just called me this afternoon who made a pass at the track today. Using a mild set of twins ( hx35/40 and ht3b ) and Mach 4's ran a 12.14 @111.85 MPH

60 foot time was 1.76. I suspect when I finish up these Mach 7's he will be in the 11's Pretty easily.

Full weight truck. Nothing removed.

Oh and Thanks Rowland, if you get some dyno numbers let me know.

Will be doing the "after" dyno on Wednesday! I'll PM the results.

Yeah i can't wait for the 7's.

I want to offer my sincerest thanks to Don M and John DiMartino for the hours and hours they spent guiding me through all the steps necessary to get my truck to work right. I had lots of head gasket problems and setup issues with the twins when i first got them. Following Don and John's advice it seems to be working nicely now.

Thanks again,
Chris H.

c-hawk, i see you thread shows the Drag Comp and BD RAD. Doesn't the RAD do the same thing as the Drag portion of the Comp?
If you or rjohnson or anyone else with 2nd gen similar mods have any dyno curves scanned, I'd love to see them here or get them emailed to me, I'm a little disappointed in my results. Once mine are scanned, maybe I'll start a thread for 'em
Congrats on getting it all set up, sounds like it's running awesome.

Galen, your large tires are why your showing a lower HP number. I see this all the time. Even 35's are power killers. Your 37's are heavy and tall. Both effect the acceleration of the dynos drums.

the drag comp raises high end defuel past 2700 and the rad eliminates the 2nd/3rd gear defuel from the torque management ECM programs to save the tranny

Thanks, Don. I have 'last years' Mach3's, love them, but... do I have enough fuel for the B1-2? At one dyno event I ran the truck on several Comp settings:
Comp off was 339hp/690#
Comp 4x5 was 415/864
Comp 5x5 was 416/850
I decided to check my boost levels on the way home and found boost was 42/43 Comp on 3x5, 45/46 on level 4x5 and 5x5. Maybe my boost is lower than rjohnson's initail reading of 51# due to the larger exhaust housing of my B1-2 versus his KS...?
To throw another wrench in the works, I just ordered the Tial 38mm wastegate (following rjohnson's lead)
Any info and suggestions would be great, also looking at the Mad ECM for lower RPM response and driveability.

I would check your wire tap on the comp. seems like you may be effectively running injectors plus an ez. not sure... just a thought.

About the RAD. It gets rid of my off the line de-fueling problem. It doesn't add any power or have anything to do with high rpm fueling like the comp does.

Chris

Edit... just noticed you have a H.O. and i know they don't respond to boxes as well as ETC's. Still i think you should have got more from the comp then 75hp. What does everyone else think?????

Galen,

The truck is not going to respond to a Comp as well as the auto truck. . The HO is very fuel limited after about 500 HP. Your dyno run of 434 is probably closer to 475-490 with smaller tires.

The external wastegate is sadly something I have never done much with using a single turbo. I need to catch up. With the fuel the HO can provide, the boost and drive pressure will be lower than an auto truck. You may not need a wastegate externally.

Another reason the HP did not get any better with the comp on 5x5 as it did with 4x5 is the pump is just out of fuel. You did less TQ as well.

I would almost suspect fuel pressure also. I see you have a DD pusher pump but I'm wondering what your fuel pressure drops to on a WOT pull? Another thought is gearing. What gears are you running? The big tires will kill your hp but if you have 3.55 gears and big tires it will be really bad.

2's or 4's

Don this pass was with last years Mach 3s. Are the 4s now better for smoke and EGTs than last years model 3s? I was also having problems building boost and had the comp set on 5X3 instead of 5X5 on this pass. I figure the truck has a 12 second pass in it now that I fixed the boost issue. It was a bad connection at the can-bus. With the drag comp on 5X3 I quit smoking by the 1/8 mile and went through the traps at around 1100 to 1175 degrees. The mph is low because of the box setting and we had a 15-20mph headwind all day. Launch PSI was 25 pounds. It was going from not building boost to 20 and over once it started to build. Might add that I had the Sledpuller 66 on the truck for this timeslip.
